About the Job
This is a developmental opportunity for a skilled engineer to join our project coordination team. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating multiple work fronts, processes, and contributing to a cross-functional team. You will participate in team meetings, work collaboratively to achieve project objectives, and assist with any project requirements when needed.
You will work closely with field construction personnel (Superintendents, Foremen, and Crews) to ensure smooth project execution. Your duties will include high-level involvement in cost control systems, analysis of construction costs, forecasting revenue and costs accruals, processing change orders, and managing material deliveries.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will facilitate technical and/or progress meetings, review progress reports, and endorse invoices for services as required. Your expertise will be invaluable in representing Barnard on technical matters related to your area of specialization.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Heavy civil construction experience is required.
- Experience working in the field on an active construction site is required.
- Experience working for a general contractor is preferred.
- A minimum of a four-year bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university is required.
- Canadian citizenship for work visa purposes.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and make sound business decisions in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and coordinate the efforts of others.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles, methods, and practices combined with sound judgment.
- Effective organizational, research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good oral and written communication skills, including technical report writing skills.
