About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Programs Specialist to join our team at the City of Coquitlam. As a key member of our Environmental Sustainability team, you will play a critical role in advancing our community's environmental sustainability goals and strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs, policies, and initiatives to support the City's environmental sustainability plans and strategies.
  • Collaborate with City staff and stakeholders to identify and implement initiatives that advance sustainability progress.
  • Lead the development and delivery of creative and innovative sustainability and climate action projects.
  • Supervise staff and direct consultants, contractors, and volunteers as needed.
  • Represent the Engineering and Public Works department on programs and committees, and cultivate internal and external partnerships.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of environmental sustainability and climate action principles, best practices, and technologies.
  • Excellent project management, contract administration, business case development, and budgeting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical data to internal and external audiences.
  • Valid BC Driver's license.
What We Offer

The City of Coquitlam offers a competitive hourly rate of $40.29 to $ rates) plus a comprehensive benefits package and an earned day off program. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available.
