We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Specialist II to join our team at NL Health Services. As a key member of our mental health unit, you will provide exceptional care to patients and their families, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide mental health and addiction screening, assessment, intervention, referral, and psychiatric rehabilitation services from a holistic perspective.
- Organize, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans for assigned clients, ensuring their needs are met and their goals are achieved.
- Participate in auditing processes as required, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver health promotion, maintenance, and illness prevention activities, promoting overall well-being and quality of life.
- Ensure that psychiatrist/physician recommendations on treatment are carried out, preparing and administering medication and injections as instructed.
- Chart patients' behavior and responses, documenting their progress and any changes in their condition.
- Consult with clients, psychiatrists, physicians, and other team members to ensure appropriate care plans are developed, implemented, and monitored.
- Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program.
- Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
- Advanced Studies in Mental Health Certificate or Canadian Nursing Association Psychiatric Nursing Certificate, or willingness to obtain in a timely manner.
- Two years of work experience in a multi-disciplinary mental health setting, preferred.
- Knowledge of computer skills and ability to work with Meditech and EMR, an asset.
- A satisfactory certificate of conduct.
- Competitive salary, NS-30 of the RNUNL salary scales, $50.24 per hour, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.
- Financial incentives, including the Come Home Year Incentive up to $50,000, Sign On Bonus up to $16,000, and Retention Incentive $5,000 annually.
