About the Role

AECOM is seeking a skilled Railway Construction Inspector to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of construction projects in compliance with client policies, procedures, and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and carry out daily inspections during construction to verify compliance with contract documents.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports summarizing progress and identifying issues to be forwarded to the client.
  • Ensure that contractors follow quality control processes and coordinate quality assurance testing as required.
  • Provide oversight of contractor's construction activities, schedule, logistics, site access, site conditions, utilities, health and safety, environment, project interfaces, operations and maintenance, design and document assurance, site assurance and testing, commissioning and asset handover.
  • Keep track of work on site and record changes for completion of as-built drawings and verify quantities of items for review of contractor's invoices.
  • Provide site presence throughout construction by regular daytime, nighttime, and weekend site visits if required for planned track closures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering + 2 years of relevant experience OR Technical Diploma + 4 years relevant experience in inspection of heavy civil work in supervising construction sites, field engineering, site work inspections in the railway right of way for Class 1 railway.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated on-site construction supervision experience in construction of transit, commercial, and municipal infrastructure.
  • P.Eng. or an E I T Ontario designation is an asset.
  • CET ON is an asset.
  • Experience working in the railway right of way for Class 1 railway is an asset.
