Job Summary:

BGC Okanagan is seeking a skilled Child Care Resource Specialist to support our Child Care Resource & Referral Program in Vernon, BC. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing resources and information to families and child care providers, promoting a strong and supportive community for children and youth.

Key Responsibilities:

- Respond to inquiries from parents and child care providers, providing resource materials and information on community resources and services.
- Provide consultation to child care providers on start-up and operation, licensing requirements, safety standards, and programming.
- Develop and produce newsletters, program brochures, and pamphlets in conjunction with other staff.
- Maintain the lending library, performing duties such as organizing resources, cleaning and disinfecting equipment, performing inventory, and maintaining library membership, loan, and return records.
- Plan, conduct, and/or participate in the delivery of workshops, networking, and educational events for parents and child care providers.
- Promote the program and recruit child care providers through public service announcements, classified advertising, and posters and brochures.
- Maintain a registry of child care providers in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
- Maintain related records and statistics and produce reports as required.

Qualifications:

- Early Childhood Education Certificate is an asset, two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- First Aid or willingness to obtain
- Class 5 driver's license
- Knowledge of child care, community resources, and child development an asset
- Successful completion of Agency screening process, including criminal record check

This position is open to all applicants. This position requires union membership.

Hours: 20 hours per week, hours scheduled Monday to Saturday, schedule can be flexible. This is a temporary role until March 31, 2025.

Rate of Pay: $27.54 per hour, plus cost-shared benefits.
