The Wilson School of Design at KPU offers eight different programs, including the Front-End Development for Interactive Applications program, which focuses on designing responsive websites, mobile applications, and software interfaces. The program aims to train professionals who can translate static design concepts into dynamic, functional realities.



Job Description


We are seeking an experienced Visual Experience Designer for Interactive Applications to join our team at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. As a Visual Experience Designer, you will be responsible for teaching students about visual literacy, user interface (UI) design, and user experience (UX) design. You will also contribute to curriculum development, assist students outside of class, and participate in service activities representing the program on various committees.


In this role, you will work with dedicated students and colleagues to integrate artistry and technical expertise, emphasizing effective communication, adaptability, critical thinking, and precision in a collaborative classroom. You will have the opportunity to consult with and represent the program, demonstrating your understanding of Front-End Development for Interactive Applications.



Estimated Salary: $83,000 - $110,000 per year



Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, interaction design, or related disciplines
  • Post-secondary teaching experience, minimum 3 years preferred
  • Experience working in a teaching-intensive post-secondary institution
  • Proven track record of leading teams and project management within a design-related industry role
  • Specialized knowledge of graphic design and layout
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, including motion and building animations
  • Extensive knowledge of UX artifacts such as Customer Journey Maps, User Personas, User Scenarios, Information Architecture, User Flows, and Prototypes
  • Extensive experience with wireframing, product visual design, and prototyping tools
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of UX design principles, UX research methodologies, UI design, and usability guidelines through strong hands-on experience and a compelling portfolio
