Job Overview

At AK Transit, we are seeking an experienced Long-Haul Truck Driver to join our team. As a key member of our logistics operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of goods across the country.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Job Description

Your primary responsibility will be to operate a tractor-trailer safely and efficiently, adhering to all relevant regulations and company policies. This will involve:

  • Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain your vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Driving and Navigation: Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, using your knowledge of routes and traffic patterns to optimize delivery times.
  • Cargo Handling: Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently, adhering to all relevant safety protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Professionalism and Communication Skills: Provide excellent customer service, both verbally and in writing.
  • Technical Knowledge: Possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and have experience with tractor-trailers.
  • Physical Abilities: Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

This role requires:

  • Overtime: Be available to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
  • Repetitive Tasks: Perform repetitive tasks, such as driving and loading/unloading cargo.
  • Sitting: Spend extended periods sitting while driving or during breaks.
