We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychologist I to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide psychological services to patients and their families, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide psychological screening and assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention, and promotion services to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to plan and implement services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards.
- Provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers, and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes, and team functioning.
- Consult and collaborate with teams and community services to ensure comprehensive care.
- Supervise psychometrists, provisional psychologists, and/or masters-level psychology students, and provide input into program, policy, and/or procedure development.
- Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program.
- Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
- A minimum 3-5 years' experience in a healthcare or related setting, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.
- Respect for the philosophy of bariatric and diabetes services, self-management, mutual aid, adult education principles, and the understanding of the impact of chronic health conditions on the individual and the healthcare system.
- Community development and engagement skills, excellent assessment, organization, and client care skills, and ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner.
- Experience with diverse and vulnerable populations.
- Specialized training in evaluation/counseling of obese clients.
- Leadership skills, ability, and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, and ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
