Job Title: Lead Planner

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Lead Planner to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a Lead Planner, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to lower-level planners, preparing project schedules, and leading resource/budget scheduling.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Prepare Project Schedules: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners to prepare project schedules, including resource/budget scheduling.
  • Lead Resource/Budget Scheduling: Lead and provide guidance and support to lower-level planners to load resource/budget schedules.
  • Set Up Baseline Schedules: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners to set up baseline schedules.
  • Update Schedules: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners to update schedules, including extracting Primavera data files and sending them to the cost controller.
  • Issue Schedules: Lead and provide guidance and support to lower-level planners to issue schedules for internal and external use.
  • Monitor and Control Progress: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners to monitor and control the progress of work against the schedule.
  • Prepare Resource Requirements Reports: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners to prepare resource requirements reports.
  • Report Critical Schedule Issues: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners to report critical schedule issues.
  • Identify and Explain Variances: Identify and explain variances between current schedules, plans, earned values, and forecasts, and communicate with the Project Controls Manager, Project Manager.
  • Ensure Proper Progress Measurement: Ensure proper progress measurement is in place for all projects and portfolios within the P&L through the whole project cycle.
  • Present Updates: Present updates to Lead/Manager/Project or P&L lead.
  • Advise on Areas of Concern: Advise on areas of concern that could prevent meeting the P&L objectives.
  • Interface with Project Control Team: Interface with other Project Control Team to maintain an integrated cost-schedule project control system.

The Ideal Candidate:




  • Education: University degree (B. Eng, BCom, etc).
  • Experience: 15+ years of relevant planning & schedule, cost control experience, experience in engineering and construction projects environment.
  • Skills: Proficient in MS office suite of software, especially in Microsoft Excel. Preferably thorough knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to learn new software as per the company standards. Expert Knowledge of project management techniques and a number of years of hands-on experience (i.e., critical path method, progress measurement and earned value technique) and experience in Project planning, analyzing and reporting.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are required with attention to details.
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure: Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Project Controls Policies and Procedures: Strong knowledge of the general project controls policies and procedures.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Solid report writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills.
  • Nuclear New Build Experience: Nuclear New Build experience a plus.
  • Ability to Work with Clients and Alliance Partners: Ability to work well with Clients and Alliance partners.
  • Ability to Mentor Junior and Intermediate Staff: Ability to work with staff, build and maintain good working relationships with Project Controls team. Ability to mentor junior and intermediate staff and work with project cost controller
