About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Tile Setter to join our team at Penguin Basements Ltd. As a skilled professional, you will be responsible for installing tile strips, laying and setting mosaic tiles, and preparing surfaces for tiling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces for tiling by measuring and marking them.
  • Mix, apply, and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue, or other adhesives using hand trowels.
  • Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools.
  • Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout.
  • Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles.
  • Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs.
  • Cut, surface, polish, and install marble and granite.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in tiling
  • Ability to distinguish between colours
  • Attention to detail
  • Hand-eye co-ordination
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
  • Physically demanding work environment
  • Handling heavy loads

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be around $45,000 - $55,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include a permanent work term, 30 hours of work per week, and English as the primary work language.
