About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining permits for all facets of the project and assist in the development of Federal Impact Assessment and applicable permitting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Permitting Process Management: Manage the permitting process in relation to Mining and Exploration licenses and Mine Operations.
  • Timelines and Guidance: Identify permitting requirements, establish timelines, and provide management with guidance on the critical path.
  • Government Liaison: Proactively deal, liaise, and follow up with relevant Government authorities to obtain approvals for applications and renewals of land titles and/or appeals.
  • Data Management: Maintain and update the Company's database on land matters.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with the Environmental Manager at the Great Bear site to ensure alignment on permitting requirements and confirm that any imposed conditions are mutually agreed upon and achievable.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate and work with the Great Bear Projects team and External Relations Manager to ensure consultation needs are being met for the Impact Assessment and Provincial Permitting needs.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Biological Sciences, or equivalent experience along with a minimum of 8-10 years' experience in the Mining Environmental field with 5-7 years' experience specifically related to assessments, permit applications, appeal, and negotiations processes.

Desirable Skills:
  • Technical Document Review: Knowledge in reviewing technical documents related to environmental assessments and permitting.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Solid foundation in provincial and federal legislation as it pertains to mining projects, including but not limited to agencies such as the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment Canada, etc.
  • Cultural Awareness: Good understanding of cultural and political environment.
  • Environmental Issues: Solid understanding of environmental issues related to historical mine operations.
  • Report Interpretation: Able to comprehend and interpret engineering and environmental science reports.
  • Mining Operations: General knowledge of all phases of mining and milling operations.
  • Land Management: Strong understanding of land management concepts as they relate to mining, forestry, agriculture, and recreation.
  • Negotiation: Effective negotiating skills.
  • Project Management: Strong project management abilities.
  • Reporting: Excellent report-writing skills.
Working Conditions

This position is hybrid with frequent travel to site and corporate office. In this role, you will work a 5x2 schedule.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this role is $120,000 - $160,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
