Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Safety and Environment Manager to join our team on a multi-year infrastructure development project in Quebec or Ontario, Canada. As a key member of the project team, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, visitors, and subcontractors.



About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to the community on a large-scale project. You will work closely with our Joint Venture partner, client, government agencies, third parties, external stakeholders, and project staff to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and policies governing the project.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading HSE Implementation: Develop and implement effective HSE plans, risk assessments, training programs, and monitoring procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Safety Training and Competence: Design and deliver comprehensive safety training programs to equip employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
  • Site Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular site audits and inspections to confirm compliance with HSE regulations and identify areas for improvement.
  • HSE Coordination: Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement effective HSE coordination processes to ensure smooth interfaces between WSP employees and Joint Venture partners.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Establish effective communication channels with various stakeholders, including employees, management, clients, and partners, to ensure open dialogue and address concerns promptly.


Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • 10+ years of experience as a senior HSE professional with a strong understanding of Occupational HSE Acts and Regulations in Ontario and Quebec.
  • Bilingualism in English and French to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate complex public and private sector environments and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Professional designation such as CRSP, CHSO, NCSO, or CHSC would be an asset.
  • Experience with linear infrastructure projects such as railway, subway, light rail, oil and gas, etc., would be considered an asset.
