Job Title: Lead Operation Engineer

As a key member of the Production Engineering team at Irving Shipbuilding, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of production engineering projects. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving business decisions and influencing build methods and strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and support to team members, ensuring they have the necessary resources and expertise to excel in their roles.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage projects, making informed decisions with minimal oversight, and driving results-oriented initiatives.
  • Schedule and Deliverables: Manage and execute assigned tasks, activities, and deliverables within the Production Engineering Group, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Business Decision-Making: Provide technical input to influence business decisions on build methods and strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal stakeholders, including Production, Planning, Facilities, Platform/Combat Engineering, Scheduling, and Supply Chain, as the primary point of contact for PE functions.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering in a relevant discipline is required; P. Eng, MBA, or PMP is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience: 8 years of experience in a shipbuilding environment, with expertise in navigating production drawings, PBOM, and 3D models.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of shipbuilding production, planning, material requirements, and facility/resource capacity; high proficiency in AutoCad (2D/3D), MS Office suite, and Adobe Pro.

Security Clearance: All successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
