About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join our team at Ausenco. As an Electrical Systems Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for various projects, ensuring they meet the required standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for new equipment or modifications to existing equipment and systems.
  • Ensure design work interfaces with other disciplines, such as mechanical and civil engineering.
  • Recommend changes in plans and specify estimated costs.
  • Consult with other departments, suppliers, and contractors to clarify specifications.
  • Evaluate supplier's proposals and deliverable documentation.
  • Help prepare technical reports, tender documentation, and field support, including commissioning and site inspection.
  • Ensure that engineering deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures, and sound engineering practices.
  • Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs.
  • Ensure that project deliverables are met in a timely manner to a high-quality standard.
  • Direct and mentor junior staff.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Systems Design Engineer who possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • Recognized undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. with EGBC or eligible to do so.
  • 4-7 years' experience in design of electrical systems within Mining, Municipal, Utility, Transportation projects. Experience working within an EPCM in a heavy industry environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code is a must, and familiarity with international standards is advantageous.
  • Experience with building electrical systems, such as fire alarms, security, lighting, and communications, fibre network, and data network will be an asset.
  • Familiarity with power system study software such as ETAP, SKM, or Easy Power will be an asset.
  • Construction site service experience and working directly with clients is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, planning and organizing abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A strong team player with the ability to work independently.
