Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate mortgage applications, assessing documentation and making informed decisions based on the 5 C's of credit: credit, capacity, capital, character, and collateral within established HTB guidelines.
  • Manage loans from application to completion stage, ensuring timely delivery of documents and effective communication with brokers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, building and maintaining positive working relationships with mortgage brokers while meeting targets and exceeding expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A university degree or equivalent experience, with at least 3 years of underwriting experience in the residential mortgage lending industry, preferably in near-prime and alt-B business.
  • Strong understanding of residential mortgage review, regulatory legislation (B20, AML, and KYC), and proven ability to make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
