Principal Chemist

Job Overview:

ChampionX is seeking a highly skilled Principal Chemist to join our Production Chemical Technologies – RD&E Asset Integrity group in Calgary, AB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the qualification of corrosion inhibitors using various testing techniques. Your expertise in corrosion chemistry and experience in oilfield production chemicals will be invaluable in developing innovative solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, conduct, and interpret laboratory tests to support key customer projects
• Develop novel innovations in the area of Asset Integrity
• Collaborate with other scientists, research groups, and RD&E leaders on new development projects
• Provide consulting on experimental design, mentoring, and work direction for junior lab scientists
• Protect intellectual property, file patents, publish and/or present research findings

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a Chemical discipline and 5+ years of relevant industry experience
• Master's degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
• Ph.D. and 1+ years of relevant industry experience
• In-depth knowledge/experience in corrosion chemistry
• Experience in oilfield production chemicals with a background in Asset Integrity
• Strong understanding of test methods for corrosion inhibitors
• Product formulation/development experience from benchtop to commercialization
• Proven track record of project management; excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
