Job Summary:
Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled Psychologist I to join our Chronic Disease Management team. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide psychological testing and assessment procedures to clients living with chronic conditions such as obesity and diabetes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Psychological Assessments and Counselling: Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and provide individualized counselling to clients with chronic conditions.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with primary care physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Decision-Making and Independence: Make informed decisions and take responsibility for providing safe and competent care to clients.
- Patient and Family Advocate: Advocate for clients and their families to ensure their needs are met and their rights are respected.
- Quality Management: Collect and analyze data to monitor client outcomes and ensure that practice adheres to policy.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Psychology: A master's degree in psychology from an accredited university program is required.
- Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists: Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists is required.
- Experience in Healthcare: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare or related setting is preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, including decision-making, coaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Leadership Experience: Experience in leadership roles, including program planning, development, and evaluation.
- Community Development and Engagement: Strong community development and engagement skills, including the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Specialized Training: Specialized training in evaluation/counseling of obese clients is preferred.
