Job Summary

The Engineering Manager at Waiward Industrial is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. This includes ensuring timely engineering design for fabrication shop and erection drawings, developing engineering standards and design tools, and providing engineering support to various internal departments and external clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a performance-driven culture and maintain employee morale and motivation.
  • Prepare and implement an annual engineering operations plan.
  • Direct the engineering team to design most/all connections on typical projects and ensure this information is provided to drafting to incorporate in the drawings they produce.
  • Develop and execute an overall plan for the maintenance and future development of engineering standards and design tools.
  • Provide engineering support to other Waiward departments, as required.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with APEGA.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in structural design, with 1-2 years in a supervisory role.

Working Conditions

The incumbent is required to work in an office environment with moderate noise. The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving, and being exposed to normal office routines.
