About the Position

The School of Nursing at McMaster University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Administration to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational management of the School in support of its mandate in education, research, and clinical activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the work of the SON Manager, Finance to ensure financial management within McMaster and with partner institutions.
  • Develop business plans for the SON and monitor financial policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, reporting, and monitoring of all SON budgets according to multiple institutional policies and procedures.
  • Negotiate funding support for salaries or infrastructure with national and international affiliates and other funding agencies.
  • Work with the Vice Dean to maximize funding from internal sources and generate external sources of funding in support of the School.
  • Contribute to research funding and development.
  • Provide strategic planning advice to the Vice Dean on matters affecting the School, including inter-institutional dynamics and planning, resourcing, and proposal development.
  • Represent the School on space planning activities with respect to university education and research facilities.
  • Ensure that the SON is managed in an effective and efficient manner, including designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating all aspects of the School.
Requirements
  • University degree at the Master's level in a related field, with appropriate experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of managerial experience in an academic health sciences centre and/or health care organization.
  • University administration experience preferred.
  • Nursing education programs experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with University structure, policy, and administrative systems.
  • Knowledge/proven experience developing organizational vision and strategic plans.
  • Project management expertise.
  • Financial analysis and analytical expertise.
