Job Overview

Dillon Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Consultant and Remediation Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting environmental site assessments, remediation programs, and hazardous substance surveys.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field activities in accordance with established health and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate and complete fieldwork for contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II & III Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological investigations, and remediation programs.
  • Direction of on-site remediation activities associated with addressing impacted soils, sediment, and water.
  • Supervision and observation of construction activities including coordination of daily work activities for a small crew of local contractors.
  • Coordinate and complete designated hazardous substance surveys including asbestos and lead sampling and assist in air emissions testing programs.
  • Complete documentation of field activities, site health and safety meetings, and chain of custody forms.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain project specific field equipment.
Requirements
  • A diploma in environmental or civil engineering technology, degree in environmental sciences, degree in engineering, or a related environmental field.
  • More than 3 years of experience in environmental consulting or related industrial experience.
  • Strong work ethic with genuine interest in environmental consulting and field work.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office . Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work remotely in the field for up to two weeks.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to work alone in the field with guided direction or partial supervision
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phased Environmental Site Assessment and remediation and/or hazardous building material surveys.
  • Soil and groundwater sampling.
  • Experience in construction monitoring and construction quality assurance for verifying remediation objectives have been achieved will be an asset.
  • Experience in the tendering and procurement of remediation services will be an asset.
  • Experience in hazardous building substances survey will be an asset.
  • Experience in training internal staff on field programs will be an asset.
  • Knowledge in several of: geology, hydrogeology, environmental sampling procedures, environmental chemistry, site characterization, waste management, remediation, and health and safety.
  • Knowledge of relevant provincial, and federal environmental legislation and policies.
  • Proficiency in ESdat, Surfer, gINT, AutoCAD, or GIS.
