About This Career Opportunity

Black & McDonald's Ottawa team is growing, and we're seeking an analytical and collaborative professional to build a solid foundation for their career. As an Estimator, you'll be located in Ottawa, Ontario, and report directly to the Estimating Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates of cost of materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects based on contract drawings/specifications, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects regarding tenders.
  • Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-offs, project closings, and operational/sector meetings with various stakeholders, including senior estimators, operational staff, and purchasing teams.
  • Develop and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Conduct material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs.
  • Update and maintain the estimating database.
