Clinical Dietitian

Job Summary:
The Clinical Dietitian is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for providing accurate and timely nutrition assessment, management, and support to clients and communities in Southern Health-Santé Sud. This role requires the application of nutrition and dietetic theory, key knowledge, and critical thinking skills to improve the health of clients and residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nutrition assessment, management, and support to clients and communities
- Apply nutrition and dietetic theory, key knowledge, and critical thinking skills to improve client health
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care
- Develop and implement nutrition plans and programs
- Conduct nutrition education and counseling sessions
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Nutrition Sciences or Human Ecology or equivalent
- Active registration with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba
- Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course within 6 months of hire
- Membership with Dietitians of Canada recommended
- Knowledge of the Manitoba Long Term Care Standards
- Knowledge of behavior change counseling and client-focused approaches and strategies
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques
- Minimum of two years' experience as a Dietitian or in a nutrition-related profession
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively within a collaborative healthcare team
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality
- Good work and attendance record
Conditions of Employment:
- Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate
- All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy
- Requires a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00
