As a Senior Applied Scientist in the NLP, LLM, Recommender Systems, and Information Retrieval teams, you will play a critical role in shaping this vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leverage your technical expertise to drive innovation and leadership in tackling complex problems.
  • Collaborate with applied scientists and engineers to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques for timely, relevant, and delightful recommendations and conversations.
  • Utilize Amazon's heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate advances in state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning technologies.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A PhD in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
  • 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
Priorities

Preferred qualifications include:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Mathematics with specialties in natural language processing, recommendation systems, information retrieval, or reinforcement learning.
  • 4+ years of experience building machine learning and deep learning models for large-scale customer-facing products or features.
  • Hands-on experience with Large Language Models.
  • Publications at peer-reviewed NLP/ML conferences (e.g., ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI).
  • Scientific thinking, ability to invent, track record of thought leadership, and contributions that have advanced the field.
  • Solid software development experience.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
