Biomedical Equipment Specialist

In a fast-paced healthcare environment, patient safety is of utmost importance. As an integral part of Island Health, this role plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of biomedical equipment.

This position involves reporting to a Manager or delegate and inspecting, testing, maintaining, and performing complex repairs on various medical devices throughout designated areas of the hospital, such as Radiology, Respiratory, Anaesthesia, and the Operating Room. The specialist also conducts acceptance tests for new biomedical equipment, modifies existing equipment to enhance performance and safety, and provides expert technical advice to users.

• A recognized program in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• A valid Class 5 vehicle license.

• Maintaining a high level of technical expertise and staying up-to-date with industry developments.
• Providing excellent customer service and effective communication skills.
• Ensuring efficient workflow and prioritizing tasks effectively.

A competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per annum, reflecting the required skills and qualifications for this role. Island Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health and dental coverage, a pension plan, and paid time off.
