About the Role

Flex-N-Gate, a leading manufacturer and supplier of components for the automotive industry, is seeking a skilled Automation Specialist to join our team. As a vital member of our organization, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our automated industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test, troubleshoot, and implement new automation processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Install retrofits to existing systems and diagnose hardware, software, and instrument problems.
  • Support start-up activities and ensure seamless integration of new equipment.
  • Create and maintain automation processes to optimize production workflows.
  • Oversee testing procedures, write reports, and ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Available for support calls 24/7 to address any issues that may arise.
  • Install, diagnose, and repair programmable logic controllers and other devices that operate automated equipment.
  • PLC, robot, and HMI programming, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production and support equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Repair equipment and assist in maintaining programming software, application files, and programming hardware.
  • Responsible for improving equipment reliability and uptime related to automation and controls.
  • Implement Continuous Improvement Ideas related to automation and robotics as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift 60lbs.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Industrial workplace, where PPE is required.
  • Support 3 shift operation (days, afternoons, midnights).

Requirements

  • Graduate of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology (Robot and Automation Program) or Completion of a 2-year degree or technical certificate program.
  • Manufacturing experience and a strong technical knowledge in the programming, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), Robotics (Nachi, ABB, Fanuc), HMI programming, Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Omron).
  • Superior analytical capabilities.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
