About the Role

Fort McKay First Nation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Custodian. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing custodial duties to ensure that Elsie Fabian school is maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and supply designated building areas, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, and restroom cleaning.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance activities, documenting any deficiencies or needs for repairs.
  • Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, and other refuse.
  • Wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
  • Empty trash cans and other waste containers.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Sweep, mop, wash, wax, and polish floors.
  • Dust furniture and vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies, and upholstered furniture.
  • Stock other supply areas.
  • Clean, disinfect, and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances.
  • Report and store lost and found items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements
  • High school diploma is required.
  • Proven working experience as a Custodian.
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Experience working in a First Nations community, including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and values.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector required.
  • Valid class five Driver's License & Clean Driver's Abstract required.
  • Successful candidate will be required to live in (or relocate to) Fort McMurray, Alberta.
