Meat Department Assistant Head

At T&T Supermarket Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Meat Department Assistant Head to support the Meat Department Head in the daily operations of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Department Operations:

  • Manage and supervise the daily operation of the meat department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Assign duties to sales staff and other workers in the meat department.
  • Organize and manage inventory in both the display and walk-in coolers.
  • Oversee product quality, freshness, and ensure "First-In, First-Out" (FIFO) is strictly practiced within the department.

Staff Management:

  • Provide coaching, on-the-job training, shadowing, guidance, and supervision to department staff.
  • Promote teamwork and create an inclusive working environment.

Business Operations:

  • Manage day-to-day business operations of the meat department, including managing merchandise and promotion items, placing orders, preparing sales reports, and analyzing market information.

Customer Service:

  • Maximize customers' satisfaction by providing a good smile, eye contact, and attention.
  • Sell merchandise on occasion.

Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school degree.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in supermarket/food production retail chain store operations.
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience in supermarket/food production retail chain store.

Language: Non-smoking, Noisy, Odours.

Work Setting: Supermarket and Meat department.

Ability to Supervise: 5-10 people, Staff in various areas of responsibility.

Personal Suitability: Client focus, Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Organized, Reliability, Team player, Dependability, Initiative, Judgement.

Transportation/Travel Information: Public transportation is available.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Attention to detail, Walking, Standing for extended periods.

Specific Skills:

  • Manage and supervise the department's daily operation and staff performance.
  • Provide coaching, on-the-job training, shadowing, guidance, and supervision to department staff; promote teamwork and create an inclusive working environment.
  • Manage day-to-day business operations of the meat department, including managing merchandise and promotion items, placing orders, preparing sales reports, and analyzing market information.
  • Assign duties to sales staff and other workers in the meat department.
  • Assist to establish work schedules.
  • Organize and manage inventory in both the display and walk-in coolers.
  • Oversee product quality, freshness, and ensure "First-In, First-Out" (FIFO) is strictly practiced within the department.
  • Conduct quality control during the receipt of inventory.
  • Ensure that meat display counters are clean and well-kept.
  • Resolve problems such as customer complaints and supply shortages.
  • Maximize customers' satisfaction, build rapport with customers by providing a good smile, eye contact, and attention.
  • Sell merchandise on occasion.
  • Lead by example by performing all hands-on duties required in the Meat Department.
