Artificial Intelligence Engineer: Data Science Solutions

Global Relay, a renowned enterprise information archiving company, is seeking an accomplished Senior Data Scientist to join its team in Vancouver. With over 20 years of experience in setting industry standards for cloud archiving, surveillance, eDiscovery, and analytics solutions, Global Relay continues to empower highly regulated firms with unparalleled visibility and control over their communications data.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that cater to the needs of Global Relay's customers. As part of agile teams comprised of data scientists and developers, they will work on applying various models to vast electronic communication archives to classify and understand communication content. This role offers the opportunity to explore machine translation, transcription, natural language processing, large language models, and generative AI, as well as tackle engaging problems related to scalability and high availability in big data environments.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with fellow data scientists and developers to design, build, and deploy various machine learning models.
- Execute all stages of the data science process, from understanding business requirements to deploying models, ensuring seamless integration into the organization's infrastructure.
- Take initiative to identify and solve critical problems, coordinating with colleagues on cross-functional technical issues.
- Participate actively in design review, code review, sprint planning, and other Agile artifacts to ensure the team's efforts are aligned and productive.
- Work closely with Product Management to generate and refine user stories, contributing to the development of innovative solutions.
- Mentor junior and intermediate data scientists through pairing and reviews, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development within the team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by instilling best practices in the team's code, architecture, and processes.
- Possess at least 5 years of experience in solving complex machine learning problems, with a strong background in STEM or Linguistics fields.
- Demonstrate expertise in working with very large datasets in an enterprise-wide application environment, leveraging languages like Python and Bash.
- Exhibit proficiency in common machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, Sklearn, TensorFlow, and TensorRT.
- Showcase experience mentoring junior and intermediate data scientists, providing guidance and support to help them grow professionally.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- A Master's degree in STEM or Linguistics (considered equivalent to 1 additional year of experience).
- A Ph.D. in STEM or Linguistics (considered equivalent to 2 additional years of experience).
- Data collection and cleaning experience, with a focus on extracting valuable insights from large datasets.
- Experience with acoustic or language models for speech recognition, natural language processing models, large language models, Kubernetes, microservices, and agile development environments.

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 CAD annually, based on industry standards and the location of Vancouver, British Columbia.
