Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Addiction Counsellor to join our team. As an Addiction Counsellor, you will work closely with women in recovery, providing individualized support and guidance to help them achieve their recovery goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional recovery addictions work in treatment, prevention, and community capacity building using a client-centered approach.
- Network with other agencies in the community to ensure services and programs at McDougall House are consistent with identified community needs relative to addictions and mental health.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to support women in recovery.
- Collaborate with other team members to provide comprehensive support services to women in recovery.
- Bachelor's degree with a specialization in addiction counselling, social work, or a related field, and over 5 years of relevant experience in addiction counselling, or a master's degree with a specialization in addiction counselling, social work, or a related field, and over 2 years of experience in addiction counselling.
- Knowledge of addictions, gender-specific issues as they pertain to women, and knowledge of Twelve Step programs and their significance for women in recovery.
- Over two years of one-on-one counselling experience, preferably with clients recovering from addictions.
- Certification with the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) or registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) or the equivalent.
