Job Summary

The Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in Surgical Services at the Labrador Health Centre. As a key member of the perioperative team, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients in the Endoscopy and Surgical Suites, and Day Surgery
  • Complete accurate records of patient care throughout their stay in Surgical Services
  • Manage inventory of unit narcotics and controlled drugs
  • Operate and maintain equipment in the endoscopy and operating suites, and day surgery
  • Assess equipment function and report malfunctions
  • Maintain a safe level of supplies
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program
  • Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL)
  • Surgical Services education program or willingness to complete
  • Successful completion of NRP, ACLS, TNCC, or willingness to complete
  • Breastfeeding education/course
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support
  • Satisfactory certificate of conduct
Working Conditions

This is a permanent full-time position with variable shifts and on-call requirements. The successful candidate will be required to work 75 hours bi-weekly.
