About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Lead Hand to join our team at Newmont Goldcorp Canada. As a key member of our underground maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of fixed mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with planners to ensure parts and tools are available for tasks.
  • Schedule, coordinate, train, mentor, and supervise a team of millwrights ensuring tasks and assigned duties are clearly understood and successfully completed.
  • Assist in supervising daily repair work to ensure effective utilization of personnel, materials, and equipment.
  • Plan and coordinate project strategies and completion targets to include labour, material, and equipment resource requirements to meet established objectives.
  • Carry out routine mechanical maintenance of fixed equipment to the required standard of performance and safety.
  • Inspect hydraulic and pneumatic systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards & defects.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning mechanical systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

Requirements

  • A valid inter-provincial Red Seal Millwright trade qualification.
  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience in fixed underground maintenance, with experience working with fixed mechanical underground equipment.
  • A minimum of 3+ years' underground experience.
  • Previous leadership experience is essential.
  • A strong knowledge of crushers, conveyors, pumps, vent doors, rock breakers, drives, and hydraulics is required.

Location

This role will be based at our Brucejack Gold Mine in northern British Columbia, Canada. The mine is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us.
