Job Title: Barber

Fades by Shumie Barber Inc. is seeking a skilled Barber to join our team. As a Barber, you will be responsible for providing exceptional hair cutting and styling services to our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients on beauty care treatments and provide personalized recommendations.
  • Book appointments and manage client schedules.
  • Cut and trim hair according to client preferences and instructions.
  • Provide custom hair and scalp treatments to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Shampoo customers' hair and offer additional services such as shaving and trimming beards and mustaches.
  • Supervise other hair stylists and staff members, ensuring a smooth and efficient work environment.
  • Supervise apprentices and students in training, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Apply hair extensions and clean and style wigs and hair pieces.
  • Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm, and style hair to meet client expectations.
  • Perform receptionist duties, including answering phones and responding to client inquiries.
  • Maintain and order supplies, ensuring a well-stocked and organized workspace.
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the beauty care industry.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Judgement and reliability in maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
  • Recruit and support newcomers and refugees in the beauty care industry.
  • Assist with foreign credential recognition and provide mentorship programs.
Support for Youths:
  • Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth and provide mentorship opportunities.
Support for Indigenous People:
  • Offer mentorship and coaching opportunities for Indigenous workers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
Work Environment:
  • Permanent work term.
  • English language required.
  • 35 to 40 hours per week.
