Youth Behavioral Specialist

The Early Childhood Mental Health Program is dedicated to providing exceptional mental health services to young children and their families in Contra Costa County. We are seeking an experienced preschool mental health consultant to join our team.
Job Summary:This position involves providing culturally sensitive consultation services to children birth to five, within Head Start Preschools across Contra Costa County. Our consultants work collaboratively with preschool and daycare directors, site supervisors, teachers, and families to support young children who exhibit behavioral difficulties or require additional assistance in engaging with peers and caregivers.
Our families face various challenges, including trauma, migration, domestic and community violence, economic hardship, substance abuse, and maternal depression. We strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for all families, promoting diversity and equality in the workplace.
Responsibilities:- Provide consultation services to preschool staff and families on strategies for supporting young children's social and emotional development
- Collaborate with preschool directors and site supervisors to develop and implement comprehensive plans for addressing children's behavioral needs
- Work closely with teachers and family members to identify and address potential barriers to children's success
- Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and agencies to provide additional support for families
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, social welfare, psychology, counseling, or a related field
- Five years' experience working in a preschool or daycare setting and/or providing therapy services to young children and their families
- California driver's license in good standing and access to a reliable automobile with minimum insurance coverage
- Must submit to fingerprinting and be cleared by the California Department of Justice and the FBI for criminal and child abuse background checks
- Master's Degree
- Fluency in both English and Spanish
- Competitive salary range: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
