The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is a trusted source of health information that enables decision-making by providing comparable data and insights to policymakers, researchers, healthcare professionals and the public.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analyst to join our team in Primary Health Care Strategy and Data Advancement branch. As a Senior Analyst, you will contribute to the full range of activities involved in the data quality, analysis and reporting of various primary health care information projects, with a focus on PHC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) data.

Job Description

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing data manipulation and statistical analyses using Python, SAS or R;
  • Producing and disseminating high-quality data quality and proof of concept analytical products, including reports and presentations;
  • Applying rigorous data quality approaches to understand and assess the quality of PHC EMR data;
  • Contributing to activities related to PHC indicators, working closely with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Assisting in idea generation, drafting project plans, and progress tracking; and
  • Representing the team, department, and organization internally and externally.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • An undergraduate degree in epidemiology, statistics, health information sciences, social sciences or similar field, or equivalent education/experience;
  • A minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in a healthcare research, policy or service setting, including experience in quantitative analysis;
  • Experience conducting analyses using statistical software, with proficiency in Python and knowledge of SAS or R an asset;
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences;
  • Good conceptual understanding of how standards support data quality and health system management;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work within a multidisciplinary team, with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including development/maintenance of project Gantts;
  • Fluency in English required, bilingualism in both official languages an asset;
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant standards, such as ICD-9/10, SNOMED, LOINC, and EMR vendor systems an asset.
