As a Backend Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing scalable, resilient, and globally available web services that support millions of players. You will work closely with designers, producers, and client engineers to design and implement APIs and protocols that are consistent, formalized, and testable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop responsive, massively scalable, and globally available web services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of backend services with other game features.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, testable software that meets the needs of our players.
  • Work with our server technical director to ensure that our backend services are secure, scalable, and meet the needs of our players.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry to ensure that our backend services remain competitive.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a hands-on coding role, with a focus on backend development.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted web services, including design, development, and deployment.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms, including Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of distributed streaming technologies, such as Kafka.
  • Experience with pub/sub and distributed caching, such as Redis.
  • Strong understanding of API design and development.
