Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our SADV Department at Headwaters Health Care Centre. As a member of our team, you will provide emergency medical and nursing care, crisis intervention, and documentation of injuries to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide emergency medical and nursing care to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence
- Conduct crisis intervention and safety planning with victims
- Document injuries and provide medications to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections
- Collect forensic evidence and provide telephone follow-up to victims
- Current Certification - College of Nurses of Ontario
- CPR certification or equivalent
- Three years current nursing experience, with demonstrated skill and experience in physical assessment and trauma management
- Physical assessment course
- Demonstrated ability to organize work effectively and establish priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, computer literacy an asset
- Ability to function independently as well as with team members
- Interest in dealing with victims of violence - must complete training, as required, as well as ongoing staff development and team meetings
- Crisis intervention course an asset
- Demonstrated compassion, reliability, and advocacy for victims of violence
- Committed availability for on-call roster, minimum of ten (10) on-call shifts per month
- Willingness to provide a minimum of two years commitment to the program
- Opportunity for ongoing education in Forensic Nursing and SANE certification
- Acceptable performance and attendance records
