Job Title: Urban Roadway Design Lead

We are seeking an experienced Urban Roadway Design Lead to join our team in Edmonton. As a key member of our Urban Transportation Team, you will be responsible for leading the design and drafting of urban roadways and laneways, neighbourhood renewal, and cycling and pedestrian facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and drafting of urban roadways and laneways, neighbourhood renewal, and cycling and pedestrian facilities
  • Coordinate the drafting team and work with junior engineers to deliver urban transportation projects
  • Provide design guidance and training to junior engineers
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects
  • Prepare road engineering design drawings, as-built/record drawings, and other plans using AutoCAD
  • Prepare design quantities, cost estimates, and provide technical support/engineering expertise to the tendering and construction process
  • Analyze and process topographical survey information for road design and other applications
  • Design reconstruction or rehabilitation of existing roads, including arterial/collector/local roads, and full neighbourhood renewal with active transportation systems
  • Grading design of roadways, both for grading plans and City of Edmonton grade sheets
  • Interact with clients, contractors, and subconsultants in the field and meetings to review designs and resolve construction issues
  • Support and lead pursuit of new work
  • Provide quality control and review of all drafting deliverables
  • Coordinate with all disciplines, sub-consultants, clients, and agencies
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of roadway engineering design experience
  • Civil Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with APEGA, or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician (CET) graduate in good standing with ASET
  • Working knowledge of transportation engineering principles and design standards
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the application of computer aided design/drafting programs, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Competence in Microsoft platforms, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Excellent attention to details and ability to generate high-quality work
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a larger team in a high-paced environment
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills
  • Flexible to meet a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to changing needs
  • Possess good English oral and written communication skills
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
