About the Opportunity:

The Global Account Director role at Export Development Canada offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Canadian businesses' success in global markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a trusted advisor to customers and their senior executives, focusing on identifying business opportunities, increasing the capability of EDC's customers to compete in global markets, and building deep relationships that increase capabilities of EDC customers to have success in multiple international markets.
  2. Develop tailored solutions that meet the evolving needs of EDC's customers, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.
  3. Build an extensive network of senior contacts and represent EDC with various stakeholders, including sector/industry groups.
  4. Provide proactive advice to customers and internal stakeholders that guides strategic decision-making, influencing EDC's perspectives and interests.
  5. Influencing EDC's perspectives and interests, provide key insight and advice that enables informed decision-making, strategic planning, and risk management in ambiguous and complex situations.
  6. Lead major cross-functional projects and initiatives that drive business growth and expansion.
  7. Recognized as a sector thought leader by both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  1. Undergraduate degree in business administration, finance, or relevant field.
  2. Minimum 10 years of business development experience, including client relationship management with a focus on international financing transactions, gained through corporate and/or investment banking roles.
  3. Advanced knowledge of best practices in strategic account management.
  4. Understanding of risks (credit, structure, ESG) which may be evidenced by recent underwriting experience.
  5. Deep knowledge of corporate capital raising instruments utilized by prospects and clients along with market forces driving utilization of each of them.
  6. Possesses a keen business acumen demonstrated by the ability to detect, understand, and assess risks, including the management capabilities of clients and prospects.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to understand the client's strategy, a deep understanding of potential solutions, and influence the end solution working with various functional teams.
  8. Has demonstrated the ability to proactively engage with clients regarding their capital structure and will propose ideas aligned with EDC's risk appetite and strategy.
  9. Recent and relevant experience in one or more of the following sectors: Agri-Food, Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, Transportation, Communication, Information & Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Technology, Forestry, Mining, or other sectors. An existing, established, professional network of corporate and financial relationships.
