About the Role:

We are seeking a Staff Litigation Lawyer to join our team at The Advocacy Centre for the Elderly (ACE). As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and representation to low-income seniors who would otherwise not have access to justice.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide summary legal advice, referrals, and general legal information to clients;
  2. Represent clients before various courts and tribunals, including the Superior Court of Justice;
  3. Supervise the work of paralegals and support staff on client matters;
  4. Develop and deliver public legal education presentations to promote elder law awareness;
  5. Contribute to community development and law reform initiatives that impact the rights and interests of older adults;
  6. Collaborate with the clinic team to ensure seamless delivery of services.

Requirements:

  • You must be a practising lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
  • You should have experience representing clients before the Superior Court or comparable venues;
  • You possess strong legal advocacy skills, excellent research and writing abilities;
  • You are a skilled multitasker able to manage competing priorities effectively;
  • You share our commitment to social justice and the empowerment of older adults;
  • You excel in team environments with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • You are available to work in a hybrid environment with regular office attendance as required.

Compensation:

This is a permanent, full-time position offering an annual salary range of $80,000-$95,000 commensurate with experience. Additionally, we provide 5.5% employer-sponsored RRSP contributions, generous vacation allowances, and comprehensive health and dental benefits after three months of employment.
