Chief Content Director

The Ontarion is a dynamic publication seeking an Editor-in-Chief to lead its journalistic content. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of editorial planning, design, and content strategy.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the EIC will receive training and support in their role as they apply journalistic principles to manage the daily operations of the Editorial Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee editorial staff, schedules work hours, coordinates volunteers, and facilitates regular editorial team meetings
  • Possess a diploma or degree in journalism, with knowledge of journalistic practices including hard news reporting, interview techniques, editing, fact checking, and news gathering
  • Have an ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong leadership skills to set a positive and professional example for staff and volunteers
  • Be familiar with digital production equipment and processes used in newspaper production, as well as social media and content management systems (WordPress experience is considered an asset)

Requirements:

  1. Submit a resume, cover letter, and a portfolio of at least 6 journalistic writing samples in a single PDF document
  2. No use of generative AI in the cover letter or portfolio samples; please clarify if unsure

Competitive hourly rate ($23.50) plus benefits and parking pass
