Mechanic and Equipment Specialist

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at KAG Canada, you'll be part of our full-service shops where skilled technicians work together to maintain and repair our extensive fleet of transport trucks and trailers. With a focus on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our operations.
We're seeking apprentices of all levels to join our team of talented mechanics and equipment specialists. If you're passionate about working with heavy-duty equipment, eager to learn, and committed to delivering top-notch results, this may be the ideal opportunity for you.
Total Compensation:
Competitive rates, including shift premiums for licensed and apprentice techs, are just the beginning. We also offer wage continuance, tuition, and textbook reimbursement for attendance at technical school. Additional benefits include an annual tool allowance, safety boot allowance, flexible work arrangements, company-paid health and dental benefits, RRSP/DPSP matching program, and annual bonus opportunities.
About the Position:
Depending on your skill level and experience, you'll have the chance to develop new skills or refine existing ones in various areas, such as interpreting work orders, performing scheduled maintenance services, diagnosing faults or malfunctions, adjusting equipment, and testing repaired equipment for proper performance.
You'll work closely with our experienced team members to ensure that all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair meet manufacturers' specifications and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpreting work orders and technical manuals to perform scheduled maintenance services
- Diagnostics and fault finding using specialized equipment
- Adjusting equipment and replacing defective parts, components, or systems
- Performing minor welding repairs (non-code work)
- Testing repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure compliance with regulations
- Completing service repair orders and billing out all used parts
- Working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver's license (Class 3 preferred)
- Relevant trade certification or completion of an apprenticeship program
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
