The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Agricultural Operations Coordinator to join our team at the UBC Farm.

The Agricultural Operations Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the farm, ensuring seamless execution of tasks, and maintaining high-quality standards.

About the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing various aspects of farm operations, including land stewardship, crop production, and equipment management. They will also provide support to senior staff members, assist with data collection and record-keeping, and contribute to the development of annual farm plans.

This role requires a strong technical background, preferably in horticulture or a related field, along with experience working with a variety of agricultural equipment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee daily farm operations, including land preparation, planting, and harvesting.
  • Assist senior staff members with crop planning, budgeting, and monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of farm activities, including crop yields, weather patterns, and soil conditions.
  • Maintain and repair farm equipment, as needed, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with the farm management team to develop and implement effective strategies for improving farm productivity and sustainability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in agricultural operations, preferably in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices, including organic farming methods.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs repetitively and 70 lbs occasionally.
  • Valid driver's license and experience operating manual transmissions.

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.
