We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Woodlands Director to lead our forestry operations team at AV Group NB Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for the harvesting, planning, and silviculture operations on our Crown Timber Licenses and Freehold Lands.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver Woodlands Budget: Develop and implement a comprehensive woodlands budget that meets the company's financial goals and objectives.
- Manage Wood Supply: Ensure the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective wood to our two NB Mills located in Nackawic and Atholville.
- Inventory Management: Maintain healthy wood inventories by species and form according to our safety stocks policy.
- Cost Reduction: Work closely with Unit Heads and Central Operations to identify opportunities to reduce wood costs and improve fiber yield and quality.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate wood contracts for price and volume with market participants and the government alike under the terms of AVG.
- Financial Acumen: Understand the impact of woodlands department decisions on the company's P&L.
- Leadership: Provide leadership to the Woodlands team and the AVG team as such.
- Sustainability: Demonstrate autonomy in leading operations and deliverables, and ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with sustainable forestry practices.
- Team Management: Lead a high-performing team of individuals directly and external contractors.
- Education: Bachelor degree in Forestry or Forestry Engineering.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in the industry.
- Skills: Strong computer skills, excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and spoken communication skills, strong commercial skills, excellent financial skills, and high levels of resilience.
