At MDA Space, we're on a mission to push the boundaries of what's possible in space exploration and satellite systems. As a trusted partner to the global space industry, we're seeking an exceptional Micro-Electromechanical Technician to join our Satellite Systems team in Montreal.

The main role of this position involves performing assembly of micro-electromechanical products according to structured work processes. This requires some analysis before independently choosing from known processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Soldering components onto substrates, selecting substrates, and measuring electrical components.
  • Performing electric joints and contacts using welded wires or ribbons (microwiring, parallel welding, and beam leads).
  • Affixing substrates to bases or boxes using pre-programmed ovens.
  • Mounting components to bases or circuits.
  • Preparing components for encapsulation.
  • Handling and applying polymeric products to bond components.
  • Conducting sealing and leak tests for boxes.
  • Using equipment for hybrid sorting.
  • Assembling elements within boxes.
  • Inspecting and validating the product.
  • Verifying compliance with tasks performed by colleagues.
  • Supporting Research and Development initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • A high school diploma, college diploma, or vocational studies diploma in electronics, mechanics, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of English is an asset.
  • Proficiency in plan reading.
  • Familiarity with principles of tolerances and geometrical dimensions.
  • Ability to recover and enter data using computer systems.
  • Experience with production databases.
  • The ability to operate manual or semi-automatic equipment for microelectronic assembly.
  • Fluency in French is highly valued.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Experience working with microscopes.
