Overview

Florida Crystals / ASR Group is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the process team, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical performance of the plant meets identified targets. This includes monitoring energy, water, sucrose loss, productivity, cost, and product quality. You will also be responsible for reporting situations where the plant is not meeting technical targets and recommending corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Becoming familiar with ASR regulations in areas such as Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, environmental, and working in a unionized environment.
  • Becoming competent in ASR software functions, including process control HMI and the use of trends and statistical process control.
  • Accessing and using lab reports, Daily shift report, Continuous Improvement tools, SAP maintenance system, Kronos attendance system, and Visikum.
  • Familiarizing and understanding ASR services, including steam, power, and compressed air supply, lake water cooling system, condensate management, waste water treatment, mud disposal, resin, and Carbon transfer.
  • Familiarizing and understanding process items, including salt and lime off-loading, specials transfer, yellow sugar transfer, sugar supply to packaging, bulk and liquid sugar loading, and molasses storage, brix control, and loading.
  • Monitoring the technical performance of the plant and reporting situations where the plant is not meeting identified technical targets.
  • Preparing process flow diagrams, including material, energy, and utility balances, based on existing equipment or recommended processes.
  • Assisting in the training of operators when new projects are implemented or retraining is required.
  • Participating in all aspects of the safety, quality, and sustainability programs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Sugar Engineering (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in the sugar industry, with a strong background in process engineering and leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong supervisory, technical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and process improvement skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
