About the Role

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Steamfitter to join our team. As a Steamfitter, you will be responsible for maintaining the hospital site's piping systems, including repairing and replacing necessary components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair piping systems, including steam, water, and chemical lines
  • Assemble and construct piping systems
  • Install pipes for various processes, including heating, cooling, and lubrication
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required

Requirements

  • At minimum completion of high school and Steamfitter/Pipefitter license
  • 6,000 hours of on-the-job training (8 weeks technical training in a classroom each year for four years)
  • Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time with strength and stamina to lift heavy materials
  • Ability to do careful and exacting work
  • Clear understanding of how different systems work
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
