Job Title: Assistant Trainmaster

Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Trainmaster to join our team. As a key member of our Operations Prairie South Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic within our road territory and yard-terminal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate train movements within the yard and mainline through active supervision of personnel and effective communication across departments.
  • Develop, coordinate, and ensure the daily yard-terminal/road operating plan is completed in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Provide leadership accountability for safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics.
  • Effectively lead Trains and Engines operating employees, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Occasionally operate trains, maintaining certifications and licenses as per industry regulations.
Requirements:
  • Previous railway experience as a conductor, with Locomotive engineer qualification an asset.
  • 2 years' supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment preferred.
  • Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions.
  • Leadership presence with a drive for career advancement.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to drill down to understand root cause and resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise instructions/directions.
