About the Role

As a Senior Specialist, Model Validation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of CMHC's financial models. You will be responsible for validating various models, including credit risk, pricing, actuarial, and machine learning models, to assess their fitness for purpose and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate models to ensure they are sound and meet regulatory requirements
  • Design and implement statistical tests to assess model sensitivity and robustness
  • Monitor model performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Draft comprehensive validation reports and present findings to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with model owners, developers, and users to ensure model quality and risk management
Requirements
  • Postgraduate degree in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in modelling/validation or quantitative analytics
  • Demonstrated experience with actuarial, statistical, and econometric models
  • Knowledge of OSFI capital rules and risk management standards
  • Ability to persuade, influence, and negotiate with colleagues and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional designation in Actuarial, Chartered Financial Analyst, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience with mortgage insurance, retail lending, and scorecard development
  • Experience with Machine Learning algorithms and Probabilistic Modelling
