Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Professional to join our North East Mental Health Team in Vancouver, BC.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients with severe and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders, and/or dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized direct nursing care and brokerage services to clients.
  • Assess and develop client-centred rehabilitation programs.
  • Enhance quality of life from the client's perspective.
  • Consult and collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop treatment plans.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships based on respect.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor client response.
  • Prepare and maintain client records according to established standards.
Qualifications
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, plus two years' recent related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of client and family-centered recovery models in mental illness.
  • Knowledge of concurrent disorders and Psychosocial Rehabilitation methodology.
  • Ability to identify emotional, social, or environmental barriers and intervene to eliminate stigma.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
