Purchasing Clerk Job Description

Steel Art Signs is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to join our team. As a Purchasing Clerk, you will be responsible for completing sales transactions, maintaining a clean shop and warehouse, and performing routine clerical duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete sales transactions and process purchases in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop and warehouse to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Perform routine clerical duties such as data entry, filing, and answering phone calls.
  • Pick up and deliver materials as needed to support the production process.
  • Process files and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Provide information on available materials to support the production process.
  • Calculate costs of orders and prepare purchase orders.
  • Charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts.
  • Complete and process international purchase orders as needed.
  • Obtain price quotations from catalogues and suppliers.
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports, and records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare purchase orders and process purchases.
  • Review requisition orders for accuracy.
  • Set up and maintain inventory control system to ensure accurate tracking of inventory levels.
  • Verify stock availability from current inventories.
  • Compile inventory reports to support the production process.
  • Conduct quality control to ensure high-quality products.
  • Dispose of and account for outdated stock in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain stock rotation to ensure accurate tracking of inventory levels.
  • Pack items for shipping and distribution as needed.
  • Prepare inventory costs, retail pricing, and profit reports to support the production process.
  • Prepare requisition orders to replenish stock.
  • Reconcile physical inventories with computer counts.
  • Unpack goods received and verify receipts and packing slips.
Requirements:
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: Experience an asset.
  • Computer and technology knowledge: Proficient in accounting software, database software, electronic mail, inventory control software, MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, spreadsheet, and word processing software.

  • Hours: 40 to 44 hours per week.
